Il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 formaliser des principes standards pour la musculation dans les ann\u00e9es 1970, ce qui a totalement chang\u00e9 le monde de l&#039;entra\u00eenement physique. \u00c0 l&#039;\u00e9poque, la plupart des entra\u00eenements de force, de fitness et de musculation \u00e9taient centr\u00e9s sur des mouvements d&#039;halt\u00e9rophilie (d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 couch\u00e9, squats, soulev\u00e9s de terre\u2026). La plupart de ces exercices \u00e9taient poly-musculaires et poly-articulaires. Les principales innovations de ces machines \u00e9taient les cha\u00eenes et les axes de rotation qui permettaient de ne pas d\u00e9pendre de la seule gravit\u00e9. Il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler sur plusieurs gammes de machines de fitness qui ont totalement r\u00e9volutionn\u00e9 le monde du fitness. En v\u00e9ritable entrepreneur, il r\u00e9alise rapidement le potentiel de march\u00e9 de ses machines et cr\u00e9e rapidement une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9e &#039;Nautilus&#039;. Il conna\u00eet rapidement un v\u00e9ritable succ\u00e8s commercial en Am\u00e9rique du Nord et commence \u00e0 vendre ses machines dans le monde entier. En 1984, plus de 4700 centres de fitness Nautilus \u00e9taient actifs aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Ses machines de fitness ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9es presque partout, des sports professionnels (baseball, basket-ball, football am\u00e9ricain\u2026), des universit\u00e9s et lyc\u00e9es aux salles de fitness commerciales. Jones a connu un tel succ\u00e8s qu&#039;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 inclus dans la liste Forbes des 400 personnes les plus riches de l&#039;\u00e9poque. Fait int\u00e9ressant, ce qui est maintenant la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence mondiale des appareils de fitness a commenc\u00e9 par un partenariat avec les Bengals de Cincinnati (la franchise de football am\u00e9ricaine) pour fabriquer des machines de musculation qui simplifieraient la biom\u00e9canique de l&#039;halt\u00e9rophilie tout en s&#039;adaptant au mouvement humain naturel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le point de d\u00e9part d&#039;Arthur Jones : l&#039;hypocrisie des st\u00e9ro\u00efdes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La volont\u00e9 de Jones d&#039;inventer un nouveau syst\u00e8me d&#039;entra\u00eenement est n\u00e9e d&#039;un constat simple (d\u00e9j\u00e0 d&#039;actualit\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 70) : l&#039;omnipr\u00e9sence et l&#039;abus des st\u00e9ro\u00efdes dans le monde du Bodybuilding (et dans le sport professionnel).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><em>&quot;inventer un syst\u00e8me d&#039;entra\u00eenement totalement diff\u00e9rent qui donnerait de bons r\u00e9sultats et \u00e9liminerait le fl\u00e9au des st\u00e9ro\u00efdes&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e8s lors, pourquoi promouvoir le Fitness, cens\u00e9 am\u00e9liorer la sant\u00e9 et la vie des pratiquants, si c&#039;\u00e9tait pour voir les gens se gaver de st\u00e9ro\u00efdes et d\u00e9truire leur vie ? C&#039;\u00e9tait un non-sens total, quelque chose ne va peut-\u00eatre pas\u00a0! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peut-\u00eatre que toute l&#039;approche bas\u00e9e sur les mouvements poly-articulaires et les exercices h\u00e9rit\u00e9s de l&#039;halt\u00e9rophilie \u00e9tait mauvaise. C&#039;est pourquoi il a voulu recommencer depuis le d\u00e9but. Qu&#039;il s&#039;agisse de squats, de d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s couch\u00e9s ou de soulev\u00e9s de terre, tous ces mouvements \u00e9taient au c\u0153ur de l&#039;entra\u00eenement de tout bodybuilder \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9poque. Au point que des exercices d&#039;isolation \u00e0 base d&#039;halt\u00e8res (curls biceps, etc.) \u00e9taient pratiqu\u00e9s principalement pour pouvoir augmenter leurs performances sur ces mouvements d&#039;halt\u00e9rophilie. Ce qui \u00e9tait, selon eux, le seul moyen qu&#039;ils connaissaient pour d\u00e9clencher la croissance musculaire.<br>Certes, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette m\u00e9thode, de nombreux sportifs avaient connu des gains musculaires rapidement et sans prise de st\u00e9ro\u00efdes. Cependant, la courbe des gains musculaires stagnait tr\u00e8s rapidement apr\u00e8s ces gains initiaux. Le fait m\u00eame qu&#039;ils mobilisent plusieurs muscles ne permettait de saturer les muscles que pendant un laps de temps tr\u00e8s court et avec des poids n\u00e9cessairement de plus en plus lourds.
