If you are planning a trip to London and want to enjoy the city while being able to train (Fitness, CrossFit…) and relax in one of the most beautiful Spas, here are my 3 best addresses for a successful luxury stay.
The Lanesborough, Oetker Collection
This hotel is located at the entrance to Hyde Park, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, a 10-minute walk from Harrods and a 20-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. It is an extremely convenient location for enjoying walks in Hyde Park or the ultra-select Mayfair district. Its indoor pool has a lot of charm. This hotel is in my selection because I really like its Fitness Center filled with mirrors, magnificent Watson dumbbells, a small practical cardio area, a squat cage and a few other Fitness machines. This small Fitness area will help out for a few days the most seasoned Fitness practitioners and it will largely charm Fitness enthusiasts looking to combine Fitness and a luxury Spa.
Corinthia London
This hotel is located 10 minutes walk from Big Ben via the banks of the Thames, which promises very pleasant walks. It is also only a few meters from Saint James Park which is very convenient for going for a little jog. I love going to enjoy the indoor swimming pool of this hotel because it offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere in a luxurious setting. As for the Fitness Center, it is probably the best equipped room of my selection: small cardio area, large CrossFit area, a good range of dumbbells and some Technogym weight machines. In short, this Fitness area is more focused on the functional aspect of Fitness/Crossfit training than on design. I would have appreciated a little touch of luxury to go with the Spa in addition but you can’t have everything.
Shangri-La The Shard, London
If it were only about the level of Fitness equipment, this hotel would not be in my selection. Indeed, some Technogym Cardio equipment, some Fitness machines, some dumbbells… In short, it’s enough for a few days but it’s clearly below what you’d expect from a luxury hotel. However, this hotel has something unique that makes it one of my favorites in London (just a few steps from Tower Bridge): its view! Indeed, located at the top of the Shard, London’s iconic skyscraper, this hotel will allow you to enjoy a Sauna with a bird’s eye view of London, an incredible indoor pool from which you can enjoy the sunset over London and its Fitness area in which you can go jogging while enjoying the sunrise over London with the impression of floating in the air. As a result, it’s an undeniable favorite and I highly recommend you try its Spa and swimming pool.
